<p>If you play the banjo, you know how important that fretboard is. It’s the thing that gives you the ability to play different chords and notes on your banjo.</p>

<p>When it comes to keeping it in great shape, however, things get a little bit complicated. </p>

<p>Cleaning a banjo fretboard can be tricky. The smooth finish of the maple or ebony makes any dirt or oils stand out more than usual. </p>

<p>Luckily for you, we have all the tips and tricks for keeping your fretboard clean, healthy, and happy! </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Banjo Fretboard Gets Dirty Over Time</h2>

<p>If you’ve had your instrument for a while, there might be some gunk built up on your fretboard from playing every day over the years. </p>

<p>It’s common to see built-up oils and natural oils from your hands touching it so much.</p>

<p>Both of these substances are bad for your fretboard because they break down its natural oils and cause damage over time.</p>

<p>A dirty Fretboard can also cause your fingers and the strings on your banjo to smell bad. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Clean a Banjo Fretboard</h2>

<p>There are four steps to cleaning a banjo fretboard:</p>

<ol><li><strong>Take the strings off</strong></li><li><strong>Scrape off the worst gunk</strong></li><li><strong>Clean the fretboard with some solvents</strong></li><li><strong>Polish the banjo fretboard</strong></li></ol>

<p>Here are the four steps in some more detail:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" fetchpriority="high" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-572" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/banjo-fretboard.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Take The Strings Off</h3>

<p>The First Thing you want to do is take the strings off your banjo. So that when you go to clean it they are not in the way.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Scrape Off The Worst Gunk</h3>

<p>Sometimes, a fretboard can be so mucky that you can physically scrape stuff off with your fingernail. </p>

<p>This might be true if you’ve never cleaned your fretboard or because you might have purchased a used banjo that has never been cleaned. The reason doesn’t matter, getting it cleaned up is the point!</p>

<p>What you’re looking to do here, is to scrape the worst off without damaging the fretboard or frets. </p>

<p>Use something like an old credit card or a flexible guitar pick. It has to be something that is slightly bendy, hard enough to scrape but not hard enough to scratch.</p>

<p>This also means that you don&#8217;t have to put a lot of pressure on and you don&#8217;t want to use a corner. </p>

<p>Scrape in the direction of the neck length (with the grain of the wood). Just try to remove the worst with this method. This is not the final clean-up and polish.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Clean The Fretboard with some Solvents</h3>

<p>Once you’ve got any major gunk off, you now need to get the fretboard and frets really, really clean. The best way of doing this is to use Naphtha or <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Sunnyside-Mineral-Spirits-Degreaser-80332/dp/B01B21WQG6?crid=11WQ4Z1SWARA6&amp;keywords=mineral%2Bspirits%2Bfor%2Bwood&amp;qid=1653580547&amp;sprefix=Mineral%2BSpirits%2Caps%2C157&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=0c2a28d2804212f1dd2f59b3a8ab78cd&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Sunnyside-Mineral-Spirits-Degreaser-80332/dp/B01B21WQG6?crid=11WQ4Z1SWARA6&amp;keywords=mineral%2Bspirits%2Bfor%2Bwood&amp;qid=1653580547&amp;sprefix=Mineral%2BSpirits%2Caps%2C157&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=0c2a28d2804212f1dd2f59b3a8ab78cd&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mineral Spirits</a> and some kitchen towels or <a href="https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-CW190423-24-Pack-Microfiber-Cleaning/dp/B009FUF6DM?crid=1239WT4GOD1LI&amp;keywords=lint-free%2Bcloths&amp;qid=1653580633&amp;sprefix=lint-free%2Bcloths%2Caps%2C151&amp;sr=8-8&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=6b2f0e443132996cd0fae6269caa27b0&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-CW190423-24-Pack-Microfiber-Cleaning/dp/B009FUF6DM?crid=1239WT4GOD1LI&amp;keywords=lint-free%2Bcloths&amp;qid=1653580633&amp;sprefix=lint-free%2Bcloths%2Caps%2C151&amp;sr=8-8&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=6b2f0e443132996cd0fae6269caa27b0&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lint-free cloths</a>.</p>

<p>Do not use ethanol/alcohol as this is too harsh. Make sure that you’re not close to a fire (or smoking) whilst you are doing this and it’s probably best to do this outdoors.</p>

<p>Just put some Naphtha or mineral spirit on your cloth and rub away the dirt, frequently changing cloth or parts of the cloth. These should then be thrown away after use as you won’t be using them again. </p>

<p>Be sure to get right into the fret edges with this (both sides), you can use your fingernail behind the cloth to get into that corner or dig out your old credit card or banjo pick again.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Polishing The Banjo Fretboard</h3>

<p>Finally, use your guitar/banjo polish of choice to give the whole fretboard and the frets a really good shine. Apply the polish and use a clean kitchen towel or cloth to buff it up. </p>

<p>Be sure to buff both in the direction of the neck for the fretboard as well as along the frets to make them gleam!</p>

<p>Note, for roasted maple necks use the same method, and once in a while apply a new coat of gunstock oil if you are confident that it was used originally to seal the neck. </p>

<p>You may also want to use the finest wire wool (0000) to gently polish the fretboard prior to applying new coats of gunstock oil.</p>

<p>If you do use 0000 finest wire wool, I strongly advise covering the guitar pickups with some painter’s tape to avoid micro-particles of the wire wool being captured by the magnetic poles of the pickups.</p>

<p>By polishing your banjo you&#8217;re making sure that the fretboard doesn&#8217;t dry out and deteriorate over time. Another way of making sure your banjo doesn&#8217;t deteriorate over time is by <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/how-to-store-a-banjo/" data-type="post" data-id="350">storing your banjo the right way</a>.</p>

<p>A great polish I use is this: <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.amazon.com/Music-Nomad-MN105-Fretboard-Conditioner/dp/B006WPGZAG?crid=3NE04VL7XZUOG&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish&amp;qid=1653594958&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish%2Caps%2C209&amp;sr=8-2&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=71bd77e16ac87aeb553e6e1318323ecf&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Music-Nomad-MN105-Fretboard-Conditioner/dp/B006WPGZAG?crid=3NE04VL7XZUOG&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish&amp;qid=1653594958&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish%2Caps%2C209&amp;sr=8-2&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=71bd77e16ac87aeb553e6e1318323ecf&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank">MusicNomad F-ONE Fretboard Oil</a></p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Music-Nomad-MN105-Fretboard-Conditioner/dp/B006WPGZAG?crid=3NE04VL7XZUOG&#038;keywords=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish&#038;qid=1653594958&#038;sprefix=guitar%2Bfretboard%2Bpolish%2Caps%2C209&#038;sr=8-2&#038;th=1&#038;linkCode=li3&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;linkId=b4a0e02889908d12874774f90323faae&#038;language=en_US&#038;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&#038;ASIN=B006WPGZAG&#038;Format=_SL500_&#038;ID=AsinImage&#038;MarketPlace=US&#038;ServiceVersion=20070822&#038;WS=1&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US" ></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US&#038;l=li3&#038;o=1&#038;a=B006WPGZAG" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>That is all you need to clean and polish your banjo fretboard! The process is simple.</p>

<p><strong>First, you want to take off the snares from the banjo. After that scrape the worst gunk off the fretboard with something like a credit card. Then you want to clean the fretboard with some solvents and to top it off you want to polish it with some oil.</strong></p>

<p>Enjoy your fresh and clean fretboard!</p>

<p>If you’re a frequent air traveler or plan to become one, it’s important to know the rules concerning carry-on luggage. The size and weight restrictions as well as the types of items that are allowed can vary depending on the airline. </p>

<p>This article details everything about the Delta Airlines guitar policy and how you should pack it if you do decide to bring it with you.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Bring a Guitar On a Delta Airlines Plane?</h2>

<p><strong>You can bring your guitar on a Delta Airlines flight, as long as it fits in the overhead bin and there is still room when you board the plane.</strong></p>

<p>Delta Airlines is required <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/49/41724#:~:text=(1)Small%20instruments,boards%20the%20aircraft." data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/49/41724#:~:text=(1)Small%20instruments,boards%20the%20aircraft." target="_blank">by law</a> to let you carry your guitar as a carry-on when these requirements are met.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re taking a guitar on a Delta flight as your only hand-luggage item, you&#8217;ll be able to bring it onboard free of charge.</p>

<p>But if you have another carry-on item with you, such as a suitcase, then you&#8217;ll have to check in one of them.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="Delta Airlines plane" class="wp-image-560" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/delta-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Priority Boarding</h3>

<p>To make sure there is still room in the overhead bins for your guitar. You could consider paying a fee of $15 for priority boarding. </p>

<p>This way your guitar doesn&#8217;t accidentally end up in the hold of the airplane because there was no room left.</p>

<p>The cost of priority boarding is significantly cheaper than on American airlines for example, where the cost can be as high as <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-guitar-on-an-american-airlines-flight/#:~:text=%249%20to%20%2474%20depending%20on%20the%20flight" data-type="URL" data-id="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-guitar-on-an-american-airlines-flight/#:~:text=%249%20to%20%2474%20depending%20on%20the%20flight" target="_blank">$74 per flight</a>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Book An Extra Seat</h3>

<p>A more expensive alternative to ensure you can take your guitar with you in the cabin is to book an extra seat for your guitar.</p>

<p>Although you will then be 100% sure you can bring your guitar, it is usually not worth the cost compared to just getting priority boarding.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Size Requirements of Your Bags</h3>

<p>On the<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.delta.com/us/en/baggage/overview#:~:text=Baggage%20size%20must%20not%20exceed%2062%20inches%20(158%20cm)%20when%20you%20total%20LENGTH%20%2B%20WIDTH%20%2B%20HEIGHT" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.delta.com/us/en/baggage/overview#:~:text=Baggage%20size%20must%20not%20exceed%2062%20inches%20(158%20cm)%20when%20you%20total%20LENGTH%20%2B%20WIDTH%20%2B%20HEIGHT" target="_blank"> website of Delta airlines</a>, it is stated that your carry-on bag can not exceed 62 inches in total when measured; length x width x height.</p>

<p>However, for musical instruments, an exception is made and the only requirements are <strong>that your guitar fits in the overhead bin.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Maximum Weight Requirements</h3>

<p>Your Guitar case can have a maximum weight of <strong>50 pounds</strong> with Delta airlines just like a normal carry-on bag.</p>

<p>So unless you plan to put some rocks in the case with your guitar, you&#8217;ll be fine.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Does It Cost To Check a Guitar On Delta Airlines?</h2>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a Delta membership of some sort, it will cost you $30 to check your guitar. If you are a member, your first checked bag will be free.</p>

<p><a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-united-airlines-flight/#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20not%20indicated%20this%20in%20advance%20and%20you%20have%20to%20check%20it%20at%20the%20gate%20you%20have%20to%20pay%20another%20%2425%20gate%20handling%20charge." data-type="URL" data-id="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-united-airlines-flight/#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20not%20indicated%20this%20in%20advance%20and%20you%20have%20to%20check%20it%20at%20the%20gate%20you%20have%20to%20pay%20another%20%2425%20gate%20handling%20charge.">Unlike with United airlines</a>, there are no extra costs when you check your guitar at the gate.</p>

<p>If you want to check your guitar, <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-southwest-airlines-flight/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-southwest-airlines-flight/">Southwest Airlines Might be a better choice</a>. Because the first two checked bags are free with them.</p>

<p>I would recommend taking your guitar with you as carry-on luggage so you can be sure it&#8217;s safe. You don&#8217;t want airport personnel to throw your guitar around.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does a Guitar Fit In The Overhead Bin?</h2>

<p>The overhead bin size can vary depending on the plane with Delta airlines. Usually, a regular guitar will fit in the overhead bin, but if you want to make sure you have to <a href="https://www.delta.com/us/en/legal/customer-commitment#:~:text=or%2C%20upon%20request%2C-,by%20calling%20800%2D221%2D1212,-.%20Information%20on%20delta" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.delta.com/us/en/legal/customer-commitment#:~:text=or%2C%20upon%20request%2C-,by%20calling%20800%2D221%2D1212,-.%20Information%20on%20delta" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">contact reservations</a>.</p>

<p>Your guitar is likely going to take up three suitcase spaces, but this is allowed on an airplane. <strong>You just have to make sure you&#8217;re one of the first to board the plane so that there is still room.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What To Do If My Guitar Doesn&#8217;t Fit In The Overhead Bin?</h3>

<p>If your guitar doesn&#8217;t fit in the overhead bin you can either check it in or buy an additional seat for your instrument. </p>

<p>Depending on the kind of membership you have, checking in your guitar can be free or $30, if you decide to buy another seat you have to pay the price of another adult ticket for that flight.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Pack Your Guitar For a Flight.</h2>

<p>When you are taking your guitar as a carry-on you only really need a hard case, and that&#8217;s it. But if you&#8217;re going to check in your guitar you want to protect it a little better. We&#8217;re going to cover a few things you could do.</p>

<p>You could consider packing your guitar like this even if you take it as a carry-on. Just in case there is no room in the overhead bins and you have to put it in the hold of the airplane.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Invest In a Good Hard Case</h3>

<p>With Delta Airlines, you don&#8217;t have to travel with your guitar in a hard case, but it&#8217;s still a good idea to get one.</p>

<p>A hard case also <strong>protects your guitar from being damaged.</strong> So make sure you buy a sturdy one!</p>

<p>On the other hand, you also don&#8217;t want your guitar case to be too heavy. Since you&#8217;ll be traveling with your guitar and you have to carry it around with you.</p>

<p>A <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-AG1-HC-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Guitar/dp/B014L7L5EM?crid=3PCMQ3YXK6HIZ&amp;keywords=hard%2Bcase%2Bguitar&amp;qid=1652473598&amp;sprefix=hard%2Bcase%2Bguitar%2Caps%2C177&amp;sr=8-7&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=8ed04b34aca73bf2a96be5b792c33219&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-AG1-HC-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Guitar/dp/B014L7L5EM?crid=3PCMQ3YXK6HIZ&amp;keywords=hard%2Bcase%2Bguitar&amp;qid=1652473598&amp;sprefix=hard%2Bcase%2Bguitar%2Caps%2C177&amp;sr=8-7&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=8ed04b34aca73bf2a96be5b792c33219&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sturdy light hard case like this one</a> is perfect to travel with.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-467" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">You Don&#8217;t Have to Loosen Your Strings</h3>

<p>Everyone thinks that you have to detune your guitar before a flight, but that is a myth.</p>

<p>It is true that steel strings can create a lot of tension on the guitar, but this doesn&#8217;t really matter because all modern guitars have what we call <strong>&#8221;adjustable truss rods&#8221;</strong>. So when there is too much tension on the neck/strings you could just adjust the truss rod.</p>

<p>Plus, <strong>the cabin that the luggage is stored in is climate-controlled and pressurized</strong>.</p>

<p>There are guitar manufacturers that ship their guitars worldwide and this is mostly done by air travel. When a guitar arrives in the store or on your doorstep it is still somewhat tuned to standard.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Use Bubble Wrap To Protect Your Guitar</h3>

<p>Use some bubble wrap to protect your guitar inside the case. Do this especially if the case you are using is not made for the model of guitar you have, then you may have a lot of extra space around your guitar.</p>

<p>Make sure that your guitar sits tight and has no room to move around in the case. So stuff it with bubble wrap and put some cloth under the neck for some extra support.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Use a Lock On Your Guitar Case</h3>

<p>It&#8217;s a good idea to use a lock on your guitar case particularly if you have an expensive guitar.</p>

<p>A lock doesn&#8217;t prevent people from stealing the whole guitar case but<strong> it does prevent people from peaking inside and checking if your guitar is worth stealing.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Label Your Guitar</h3>

<p>Make sure you put a &#8221;Fragile&#8221; label on your guitar letting the airline&#8217;s personnel know they have to be careful with your guitar.</p>

<p>Also, consider putting a name tag with your phone number on your case. For the rare instance that someone else carries a guitar case like you, or for when your guitar gets lost.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="Fragile Label" class="wp-image-473" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">General Tips For Flying With Your Guitar</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Don&#8217;t Bring Your Best Guitar On The Plane</h3>

<p>This may seem like a no-brainer, but don&#8217;t bring your best guitar on the plane.</p>

<p>That means a guitar that is a collectible or one that has sentimental value to you or a guitar that is signed by your favorite guitarist.</p>

<p>You never know when something might happen to it and you really don&#8217;t want to damage your most expensive guitar.</p>

<p>So unless you&#8217;re a professional musician who needs to take their best guitar with them, consider leaving it at home.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pack a Humidifier With Your Guitar</h3>

<p>Depending on where you&#8217;re traveling the air could be very dry. <strong>Your guitar is a wooden instrument and it could get damaged if it dries out.</strong></p>

<p>You can get these small humidifier bags that can fit in your guitar case. Some of the really cheap ones tend to get moldy quickly, so consider buying one of better quality like this <a href="https://amzn.to/3PmGsUe" data-type="URL" data-id="https://amzn.to/3PmGsUe" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">D&#8217;Addario Two-Way Humidification System</a>.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&amp;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&amp;qid=1650725656&amp;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=fa30955cf3582b64b0fee7d46783b54c&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B000OMG0KI&amp;Format=_SL500_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B000OMG0KI" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Book a Seat Near The Front of The Plane</h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re going to check in your guitar and you&#8217;re not taking it as a carry-on. Make sure you&#8217;re booking a seat in the front of the plane.</p>

<p>That way you are one of the first to get off the plane and you&#8217;re one of the first to get to the luggage belt so you can grab your guitar right after it lands on it.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Get a Travel Guitar or 3/4 Guitar</h3>

<p>Journey Instruments make some of the best travel guitars that can snap into two parts so it has the size of a normal suitcase.</p>

<p>This makes it very convenient to travel with. Plus you don&#8217;t have to go through that awkward moment when other people on the plane get irritated because you are taking up three suitcase spots.</p>

<p>Another option is buying a <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/is-a-3-4-guitar-good-for-beginners/" data-type="post" data-id="232">3/4 guitar</a>. These guitars are a bit smaller than a regular guitar, also making them more convenient to travel with.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>Yes, you can take your guitar on a Delta Airlines flight if it fits in the overhead bin and there is still room when you board the plane. </p>

<p>You also have to make sure you&#8217;re taking the right precautions so your guitar doesn&#8217;t get damaged or stolen.</p>

<p>Use a hardshell case, pack some bubble wrap, put a label on it, and consider using a lock. Flying with your guitar should be a fun and easy experience as long as you take the necessary precautions.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do Fender Guitars Come With A Case?</h2>

<p>Depending on where you buy your fender and what model you buy a fender might come with a hard case or a gig bag.</p>

<p>When I emailed Guitar Center to ask this, they told me that Fender Squier guitars and Fender guitars below $1000 usually don&#8217;t come with a hard case but only a gigbag if you&#8217;re lucky.</p>

<p>When you&#8217;re buying one of the more premium models, a hard case is often included with the purchase. </p>

<p>Taking a look on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Guitar/s?k=Fender+Guitar&amp;rh=p_36%3A100000-&amp;qid=1652903210&amp;rnid=386685011&amp;linkCode=ll2&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=cc13e5c65979b8cab43e74e285cad9a4&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Guitar/s?k=Fender+Guitar&amp;rh=p_36%3A100000-&amp;qid=1652903210&amp;rnid=386685011&amp;linkCode=ll2&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=cc13e5c65979b8cab43e74e285cad9a4&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Amazon</a>, you can see a lot of models that are sold separately without a case, no matter what the price of the guitar is. </p>

But those guitar packages come at a premium compared to buying the stand-alone guitar.</p>

<p>At Sweetwater it&#8217;s the same as with Guitar Center, Cheaper models don&#8217;t come with a case and the more premium models come with either a gig bag or a hard case.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do Fender Guitars Come With Picks?</h2>

<p>When you are buying your Fender at a brick-and-mortar store. You will likely get some free promotional guitar picks from the store or Fender with your purchase. </p>

<p>If not, you can ask the salesperson for some guitar picks. Most of the time they will give you some basic picks for free. If you want some higher-end guitar picks you probably have to pay for them.</p>

<p>When you are buying your Fender guitar online, sometimes it sometimes also comes with some free promotional guitar picks. But this is less likely than when you&#8217;re buying it in a physical store.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="guitar pick" class="wp-image-551" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Guitar-pick.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do Fender Guitars Come With Cables?</h2>

<p>Cables are not included with a Fender guitar. Unless you&#8217;re buying a bundle, which also includes a lot of other accessories like a gig-bag, picks, and an amplifier.</p>

<p>If you buy a separate guitar amplifier, it usually includes cables.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do Fender Guitars Come With Straps?</h2>

<p>Fender guitars do not come with a strap. What Fender guitars do come with, are the buttons where you put a strap on. But you have to buy the actual strap separately.</p>

<p>Unless you buy a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Stratocaster-Electric-Frontman-Instructional/dp/B09H9B8TJ4?crid=297MD77EPAI2N&amp;keywords=fender%2Bguitar%2Bset&amp;qid=1653210267&amp;sprefix=fender%2Bguitar%2Bset%2Caps%2C162&amp;sr=8-1-spons&amp;spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFPS0g4NFMwWlM0SEYmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4OTUyNDVNMkY0R1E4UzRYVlgmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDUyOTQ3MTNZWUJXT0VGVTQ4TCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=4e9f6ffff2ac2c81fa1a81e9703523f9&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Stratocaster-Electric-Frontman-Instructional/dp/B09H9B8TJ4?crid=297MD77EPAI2N&amp;keywords=fender%2Bguitar%2Bset&amp;qid=1653210267&amp;sprefix=fender%2Bguitar%2Bset%2Caps%2C162&amp;sr=8-1-spons&amp;spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFPS0g4NFMwWlM0SEYmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4OTUyNDVNMkY0R1E4UzRYVlgmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDUyOTQ3MTNZWUJXT0VGVTQ4TCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=4e9f6ffff2ac2c81fa1a81e9703523f9&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank">beginner guitar set or package</a> that includes a strap. But then again, the straps included in bundles like this are usually not of the highest quality.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re serious about using a strap while playing guitar, I advise you to either go for a leather or woven strap that is a lot more comfortable and not itching in your neck like a nylon strap.</p>

<p>Are you a guitarist that is playing on stage and <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/how-to-jump-with-a-guitar/" data-type="post" data-id="321">jumping around a lot with your guitar</a>? Then another accessory I can&#8217;t recommend enough is <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Strap-Blocks-2-Pair/dp/B00B5LDMH6?crid=3VJHHVPZB1K6N&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bstrap%2Blocks&amp;qid=1653334901&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bstrap%2Blocks%2Caps%2C187&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=4307e25b6609d9bf6219b3ebcd948a54&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Strap-Blocks-2-Pair/dp/B00B5LDMH6?crid=3VJHHVPZB1K6N&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bstrap%2Blocks&amp;qid=1653334901&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bstrap%2Blocks%2Caps%2C187&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=4307e25b6609d9bf6219b3ebcd948a54&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank">some strap locks</a>. Strap locks prevent your guitar strap from slipping off. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do Fender Guitars Come With Strings?</h2>

<p>Fender guitars always come with a set of strings installed on the guitar, usually tuned to standard tuning: #E#A#D#G#B#E. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s a good idea to put on some <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/new-guitar-strings-vs-old-strings-which-is-better/" data-type="post" data-id="328">new guitar strings</a> every 100 hours of playing or every three to four months of age, whichever comes first. </p>

<p>Changing strings often ensures you keep that crisp and new sound on your guitar. Plus, <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/why-do-my-guitar-strings-smell-bad/" data-type="post" data-id="307">it prevents your strings from smelling bad</a>.</p>

<p>But also in case of a string breaking, a spare pair of strings come in handy. You have to buy those separately thought. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does a Fender Guitar Come With An Amplifier?</h2>

<p>When you&#8217;re buying a separate Fender guitar, an AMP will not be included in the price. Usually, an amplifier is only included when you buy a guitar bundle.</p>

<p>Although when you buy a Fender amplifier there are usually cables included.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Accessories That Don&#8217;t Come With Your Fender But Can Come In Handy</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;re just starting to learn to play guitar, there are a few obvious things you should buy in addition to your new Fender guitar, such as an amplifier and some cables.</p>

<p>But there are also some things that are less obvious. Especially if you&#8217;ve never touched a guitar before. Here are some accessories that are not necessary perse, but that are useful to buy with your first guitar.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Guitar Stand</h3>

<p>Although <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/is-a-guitar-stand-necessary/" data-type="post" data-id="276" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a guitar stand is not necessary</a> it can be very handy and safe to get one.<strong>&nbsp;A guitar stand can prevent your guitar from falling and going out of tune quickly.</strong></p>

<p>It also gives you an easy place to put it down when it’s not in use. If the guitar is on a stand, it won’t slide or fall to the ground. In addition, you’ll have quick and easy access to your instrument any time you want to play it.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Folding-Acoustic-Electric-Guitars/dp/B018FCZKR2?crid=2X5RRH8T707L2&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bstand&amp;qid=1653492987&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bstand%2Caps%2C177&amp;sr=8-6&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=d46c492648f32b0c1fa6ee392274bab2&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B018FCZKR2&amp;Format=_SL500_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B018FCZKR2" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Guitar Tuner</h3>

<p>It&#8217;s very easy to install a guitar tuner app on your phone. But those apps are not always accurate and for some, you even have to pay a monthly fee.</p>

<p>Getting a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.amazon.com/Snark-SN5X-Guitar-Violin-Current/dp/B01H74YV56?crid=ICIHRA4KZ8HW&amp;keywords=guitar+tuner&amp;qid=1653337159&amp;sprefix=guitar+tuner%2Caps%2C211&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=b2575004878775d30adaa4cfc7c1feb4&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/Snark-SN5X-Guitar-Violin-Current/dp/B01H74YV56?crid=ICIHRA4KZ8HW&amp;keywords=guitar+tuner&amp;qid=1653337159&amp;sprefix=guitar+tuner%2Caps%2C211&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=b2575004878775d30adaa4cfc7c1feb4&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank">tuner for $15 on amazon</a> can prevent a lot of headaches when tuning your guitar. </p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Snark-SN5X-Guitar-Violin-Current/dp/B01H74YV56?crid=ICIHRA4KZ8HW&amp;keywords=guitar+tuner&amp;qid=1653337159&amp;sprefix=guitar+tuner%2Caps%2C211&amp;sr=8-6&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=d447ef0645bcda1171c02b91095281c9&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B01H74YV56&amp;Format=_SL500_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B01H74YV56" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Guitar Capo</h3>

<p>A capo is a great addition to a beginner’s first guitar. A capo is a device that can be attached to the neck of a guitar. It can be used to change the key of a song by changing its pitch.</p>

<p>A guitar capo can be useful for first-time guitar players because it can make it easier to play certain chords. It can also help you to learn how to play songs in different keys. </p>

<p>The capo has two main parts: a clamp and a lever. The clamp secures the capo to the headstock, while the lever acts as a lever that pushes down on the strings. When a guitarist uses a capo, they are raising the pitch of all of the strings. </p>

<p>A guitar capo can be good to buy with your first guitar because it can make learning how to play easier. It can also help you to learn new songs more quickly.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/WINGO-Acoustic-Electric-Ukulele-Rosewood/dp/B073LSS9TJ?crid=2FHQEUL4I456A&amp;keywords=guitar%2Bcapo&amp;qid=1653337654&amp;sprefix=guitar%2Bcapo%2Caps%2C262&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=66e1fd6bddaa03af7b7e4f876548580d&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B073LSS9TJ&amp;Format=_SL500_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B073LSS9TJ" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;">

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>As you can see, there are usually not a lot of accessories included when shopping for a Fender guitar. </p>

<p>If this is the first guitar you&#8217;re buying, consider buying a Fender beginner kit with all the accessories you need so you can start playing right away!</p>

<p>If not, and you&#8217;re looking for a more expensive thousand dollars plus Fender. Keep in mind that only a case, strings, and some picks come with the guitar. You will need to purchase an amp and some cables separately.</p>

<p>If you buy a fender that is under a thousand dollars. In addition to a separate amp and some cables, you&#8217;ll need to buy a case and some picks.</p>

<p>Thanks for reading!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Tighten The Loose Toggle Switch On Your Guitar</h2>

<p>Having loose knobs and toggles on your guitar can cause them to rotate where they aren&#8217;t supposed to rotate. </p>

<p>When this happens it can cause the wires in your guitar to pull tight and break. This can also happen when you&#8217;re fixing it and don&#8217;t hold it down on the other side.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s start with fixing your loose toggle switch. This is the easy one, if you have the right tools.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Open The Toggle Switch Cover</h3>

<p>Step one is removing the toggle switch cover on the back of your guitar, Which is usually fixed with a pair of bolts.</p>

<p>Most guitars have a toggle switch cover on the back. For example, Gibson guitars have a separate toggle switch cover on the back. But on Fender guitars, the toggle switch is usually under the same cover that also covers the knobs.</p>

<p>Sometimes it is not on the back but you have to get the cover off from the front. In that case, you first have to get your snares off the guitar.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="guitar toggle switch" class="wp-image-509" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Toggle-switch-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hold The Switch In Place</h3>

<p>Now that the toggle switch cover is off, you can hold the switch in place from the back of the guitar with your hand. So that when you tighten the switch, it doesn&#8217;t rotate.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tighten The Toggle Switch</h3>

<p>When holding the toggle switch, You can tighten the switch from the front. Make sure the switch is placed in the middle. </p>

<p>You can tighten it either with an adjustable toggle switch wrench that you put over the switch and turn. Or you could use a <a href="https://amzn.to/3PoB2se" data-type="URL" data-id="https://amzn.to/3PoB2se" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spanner wrench</a> that has V-shaped inlets on both sides.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Jiayouy-Stainless-Spanner-Microfiber-Backing/dp/B09DRP7RZC?crid=3F0WSH876B3UR&amp;keywords=adjustable+toggle+switch+wrench&amp;qid=1652470729&amp;sprefix=adjustable+toggle+switch+wrench%2Caps%2C355&amp;sr=8-2&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=002b300e5fab43c8ab8124f0ac48dab9&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B09DRP7RZC&amp;Format=_SL250_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B09DRP7RZC" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important;margin:0px !important">

<p>If you don&#8217;t have those tools you could also use <a href="https://amzn.to/3Nh14M7" data-type="URL" data-id="https://amzn.to/3Nh14M7" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">needle nose pliers</a>, but be careful not to scratch your guitar.</p>

<p>When you&#8217;re going to use needle nose pliers. Make sure it has teeth on the inside, so it won&#8217;t slip when you&#8217;re tightening the switch. </p>

<p>You could also put some masking tape on the side that is facing your guitar so that when you do slip you don&#8217;t scratch it.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Fix Loose Volume And Tone Knobs On Your Guitar</h2>

<p>When tightening the tune and volume controls the first thing you want to do is get the knobs off. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Get the control knobs off</h3>

<p>It&#8217;s best to use a knob jack to get them off. A knob jack has one side with a cloth on it that you can put on your guitar so it doesn&#8217;t scratch it. </p>

<p>Try popping the knobs off with the jack while pulling on it with your hand. Rotate the knob a bit to get it off equally. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="guitar volume knobs and controls" class="wp-image-510" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/volume-and-tune-controls.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Remove the control knobs cover</h3>

<p>Just like with the toggle switch you want to remove the cover of the knobs. Again, depending on the brand and model that you have it could either be on the back or front. </p>

<p>In some cases, a guitar doesn&#8217;t have a cover, but then the controls are mounted on a plate of metal, that keeps them from rotating.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tighten the knobs</h3>

<p>Now that you got the knobs and cover off you can tighten them. When your guitar doesn&#8217;t have a metal plate that&#8217;s holding the knobs, make sure you&#8217;re holding the knobs from the back when tightening them.</p>

<p>I recommend you use a socket wrench that is at least half an inch deep. That way it is deep enough for the shaft of the pod to go in the wrench and you can securely tighten it.</p>

<p>Now you can put the cover and knob back on. When you&#8217;re putting the knob back on make sure that the dial indicator (if you have one on your guitar) lines up with the knob in the right way. </p>

<p>So that one is one, two is two, and so on. Otherwise, you might be startled by the sound when you have your volume knob on two but it actually is on ten.</p>

<p>Since you&#8217;re already working on the maintenance of your guitar, I recommend you check out these three articles about <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/cleaning-a-guitar-fretboard/" data-type="post" data-id="22">how to properly clean your guitar fretboard</a>, one about <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/what-oil-to-use-for-your-guitar-body/" data-type="post" data-id="211">what oil to use for refinishing your guitar</a>, and the last one about <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/why-do-my-guitar-strings-smell-bad/" data-type="post" data-id="307">how to stop your strings from smelling bad</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Tighten a Loose Output Jack On Your Guitar</h2>

<p>Finally, we have the guitar jack, this is usually the fastest to come loose because it is used so often.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Remove the jack cover</h3>

<p>Just like with the other controls that we&#8217;ve talked about thus far. If your guitar has a jack plate, make sure to first remove that. </p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t do this you risk rotating the wiring pulling it loose or breaking it. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="guitar output jack" class="wp-image-511" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/guitar-jack.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tighten The jack</h3>

<p>You can use the same half-inch socket to tighten the jack, just like you did with the knobs. You don&#8217;t have to unwire the jack.</p>

<p>If your guitar has a jack cover, it&#8217;s the same as with the toggle switch and controls. You just hold it from the back and tighten it on the front.</p>

<p>Once it&#8217;s tightened you can put it back together, make sure to put a cable in to check if nothing went wrong.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>Tightening your guitar controls and knobs is pretty easy as you can see. With all the controls its almost the same process:</p>

<ol>
<li>Remove the control cover</li>

<li>Hold it from the back</li>

<li>Tighten the controls from the front</li>
</ol>

<p>Not all guitars are the same and the way to tighten the control varies a bit. You just got to make sure to use the right tools, and it should be an easy fix!</p>

<p>American Airlines is one of the most popular and well-known airlines in the world. If you&#8217;re looking to travel with your guitar, you may be wondering if American Airlines allows guitars on their planes. </p>

<p>In this article, we&#8217;ll answer that question and give you some tips on how to travel with your guitar.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Bring a Guitar On an American Airlines Plane?</h2>

<p><strong>You can bring your guitar on an American Airlines flight as long as it fits in the overhead bin and as long there is still room when you board the plane. </strong></p>

<p>American Airlines is required <a href="https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/49/41724#:~:text=(1)Small%20instruments,boards%20the%20aircraft." data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/49/41724#:~:text=(1)Small%20instruments,boards%20the%20aircraft." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">by law</a> to let you carry your guitar as a carry-on when these requirements are met.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re taking a guitar on an American Airlines flight as your only hand-luggage item, you&#8217;ll be able to bring it onboard free of charge.</p>

<p>But if you have another carry-on item with you, such as a suitcase, then you&#8217;ll have to check in one of them.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="american airlines plane" class="wp-image-489" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/american-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Priority Boarding</h3>

<p>To make sure there is still room in the overhead bins for your guitar. You could consider paying a fee of $9 to $74 depending on the flight, for priority boarding.</p>

<p>So you can be sure <strong>you&#8217;ll be one of the first on the plane</strong>. This way your guitar doesn&#8217;t accidentally end up in the hold of the airplane because there was no room left.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Size Requirements of Your Bags</h3>

<p>On <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/baggage/specialty-and-sports.jsp#:~:text=Musical%20instruments,Expand" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/baggage/specialty-and-sports.jsp#:~:text=Musical%20instruments,Expand" target="_blank">the website of American Airline</a>s, it is stated that your carry-on bag can only be a certain size.</p>

<p>For musical instruments, an exception is made and the only requirements are <strong>that your guitar fits in the overhead bin.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Maximum Weight Requirements</h3>

<p>Your Guitar case can have a maximum weight of <strong>50 pounds</strong> with American airlines just like a normal carry-on bag.</p>

<p>So unless you plan to put some rocks in the case with your guitar, you&#8217;ll be fine.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Does It Cost To Check a Guitar On American Airlines?</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;re flying in a basic economy seat it will cost you $75 to check your guitar. If you have any tickets above that your first checked bag will be free.</p>

<p>If you want to check your guitar, <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-southwest-airlines-flight/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-southwest-airlines-flight/">Southwest Airlines Might be a better </a>choice.

<p>The overhead bin size can vary depending on the plane with American airlines. Usually, a regular guitar will fit in the overhead bin, but if you want to make sure you have to <a href="https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/contact-american/reservations-and-ticket-changes.jsp#:~:text=English-,800%2D433%2D7300,-24%20hours" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/contact-american/reservations-and-ticket-changes.jsp#:~:text=English-,800%2D433%2D7300,-24%20hours" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">contact reservations</a>.</p>

<p>Depending on the kind of ticket you have checking in your guitar can be free or $75, if you decide to buy another seat you have to pay the price of another adult ticket for that flight.</p>

<p>With American airlines, you HAVE to travel with your guitar in a hard case if you want to check it in. But that is not the only reason you want to use one.</p>

<p>A <a href="https://amzn.to/3NhYWUl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://amzn.to/3NhYWUl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sturdy light hard case like this one</a> is perfect to travel with.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-467" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/gigbag-vs-hardcase-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="Fragile Label" class="wp-image-473" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/fragile-label-3.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&#038;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&#038;qid=1650725656&#038;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&#038;sr=8-5&#038;th=1&#038;linkCode=li3&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;linkId=fa30955cf3582b64b0fee7d46783b54c&#038;language=en_US&#038;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&#038;ASIN=B000OMG0KI&#038;Format=_SL250_&#038;ID=AsinImage&#038;MarketPlace=US&#038;ServiceVersion=20070822&#038;WS=1&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US" ></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US&#038;l=li3&#038;o=1&#038;a=B000OMG0KI" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

<p>Yes, you can take your guitar on an American Airlines flight if it fits in the overhead bin and there is still room when you board the plane.

<p>You&#8217;ve just landed a gig in a different state and realized you need to take your guitar on the airplane. </p>

<p>Or, you&#8217;re about to take your dream vacation to Hawaii but don&#8217;t want to leave your guitar behind. What are your options? Can you bring a guitar on a Southwest Airlines flight? Read on for all the details.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Bring a Guitar On a Southwest Airlines Plane?</h2>

<p><strong>You can bring your guitar on a Southwest flight as long as it is in a hard case and it fits in the overhead bin. </strong>Your guitar will count as a carry-on bag if placed in the overhead bin.</p>

<p>If your guitar doesn&#8217;t fit in the overhead bin (when you have a jumbo guitar for instance) you can check it in for free, in that case, make sure to follow the packing tips below!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-483" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Southwest-airlines-plane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Upgraded Boarding</h3>

<p>To make sure there is still room in the overhead bins for your guitar. You could consider paying a fee starting from $30 for upgraded boarding.</p>

<p>So you can be sure <strong>you&#8217;ll be one of the first on the plane</strong>. This way your guitar doesn&#8217;t accidentally end up in the hold of the airplane because there was no room left.</p>

<p>To upgrade you can ask Southwest personnel at the departure gate or ticket counter for availability.</p>

<p><a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/can-i-take-my-guitar-on-a-united-airlines-flight/" data-type="post" data-id="462">With United Airlines this upgrade starts from only $15.</a></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Size Requirements of Your Bags</h3>

<p>On <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.southwest.com/help/baggage/carryon-baggage#:~:text=Your%20carryon%20can%20be%20no%20bigger%20than%2024%E2%80%9D%20(L)%20x%2016%E2%80%9D%20(W)%20x%2010%E2%80%9D%20(H)." data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.southwest.com/help/baggage/carryon-baggage#:~:text=Your%20carryon%20can%20be%20no%20bigger%20than%2024%E2%80%9D%20(L)%20x%2016%E2%80%9D%20(W)%20x%2010%E2%80%9D%20(H)." target="_blank">the website of Southwest Airlines</a>, it is stated that your carry-on bag can only be 24 inches x 16 inches x 10 inches.</p>

<p>For musical instruments, an exception is made and the only requirements are <strong>that your guitar is in a hard case and that it fits in the overhead bin.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Maximum Weight Requirements</h3>

<p>Your Guitar case can have a maximum weight of <strong>50 pounds</strong> with Southwest Airlines just like a normal carry-on bag.</p>

<p>So unless you plan to put some rocks in the case with your guitar, you&#8217;ll be fine.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Does It Cost To Check a Guitar On Southwest Airlines?</h2>

<p>With Southwest, <strong>you can take two carry-on bags, two checked bags plus a personal item for free</strong> (your guitar counts as a carry-on bag). <strong>A fifth bag (or guitar) will cost $75 per item.</strong> You can definitely call this a very generous southwest airlines guitar policy.</p>

<p>The overhead bins on a Southwest flight are about 50 inches wide, a standard guitar case is about 44 inches. So it&#8217;s big enough to fit regular guitars. You have to put it in sideways so that the neck is pointing towards the cockpit or tail.</p>

<p>Your guitar is likely going to take up three suitcase spaces, but this is allowed on an airplane. <strong>You just have to make sure you&#8217;re one of the first to board the plane so that there is still room.</strong></p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-485" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-southwest-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

Some of the really cheap ones tend to get moldy quickly, so consider buying one of better quality like this <a href="https://amzn.to/3LbmI2U" data-type="URL" data-id="https://amzn.to/3LbmI2U" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">D&#8217;Addario Two-Way Humidification System</a>.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&amp;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&amp;qid=1650725656&amp;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=94aab726f2fc8533a17c51f0aa0e953b&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B000OMG0KI&amp;Format=_SL250_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US"></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;l=li3&amp;o=1&amp;a=B000OMG0KI" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;">

<p>Yes, you can take your guitar on a Southwest Airlines flight, the southwest instrument policy requires it&#8217;s in a hard case and fits in the overhead bin. You also have to make sure you&#8217;re taking the right precautions so your guitar doesn&#8217;t get damaged or stolen.</p>

<p>Use a hardshell case, pack some bubble wrap, put a label on it, and consider using a lock. Flying with your guitar should be a fun and easy experience as long as you take the necessary precautions.</p>

<p>You might be visiting family for the holidays and thought why don&#8217;t I just take my guitar with me? But&#8230; Can you take a guitar with you on a United flight?</p>

<p>United Airlines has a great reputation for being one of the most pet-friendly airlines. But what about musical instruments?</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Bring a Guitar On a United Airlines Plane?</h2>

<p><strong>You can bring your guitar on a united flight as long as it is in a hard case and it fits in the overhead bin. </strong>Your guitar will count as a carry-on bag if placed in the overhead bin.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re taking a guitar on a united flight as your only hand-luggage item, you&#8217;ll be able to bring it onboard free of charge.</p>

<p>But if you have another carry-on item with you, such as a suitcase, then you&#8217;ll have to check in one of them.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="United airlines plane" class="wp-image-463" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/United-airplane.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Exceptions</h3>

<p>If you bought a <strong>Basic Economy ticket </strong>for a flight that is not trans-Atlantic. You&#8217;re only allowed to have a &#8220;personal item&#8221; with you.</p>

<p>So unless your guitar fits under the seat in front of you (this might only be the case with a small ukulele for example),<strong> you are required to check your guitar and pay the checked bag fee plus a $25 gate handling charge.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Priority Boarding</h3>

<p>To make sure there is still room in the overhead bins for your guitar. You could consider paying a small fee starting from $15 for priority boarding.</p>

<p>On the <a href="https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/travel/baggage/carry-on.html" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/travel/baggage/carry-on.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">website of United airlines</a>, it is stated that your carry-on bag can only be 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches.</p>

<p>For musical instruments, an exception is made and the only requirements are <strong>that your guitar is in a hard case and that it fits in the overhead bin.</strong></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Maximum Weight Requirements</h3>

<p>Your Guitar case can have a maximum weight of <strong>50 pounds</strong> with united airlines just like a normal carry-on bag.</p>

<p>So unless you plan to put some rocks in the case with your guitar, you&#8217;ll be fine.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Does It Cost To Check a Guitar On United Airlines?</h2>

<p>If you have to check your guitar because you have another suitcase with you or you&#8217;re flying Basic Economy, then it will cost you <strong>$35 for the first checked bag.</strong></p>

<p>If you have not indicated this in advance and you have to check it at the gate you have to pay another $25 gate handling charge.</p>

<p>The overhead bins on a united flight are big enough to fit regular guitars.

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="overhead bin united airlines" class="wp-image-465" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/overhead-bin-united-airlines-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure>

<p>With United airlines, you HAVE to travel with your guitar in a hard case. But that is not the only reason you want to use one.</p>

Some of the really cheap ones tend to get moldy quickly, so consider buying one of better quality like this <a href="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&amp;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&amp;qid=1650725656&amp;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=778c2a65dd99fce9b88fe2372ac09edd&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&amp;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&amp;qid=1650725656&amp;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&amp;sr=8-5&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&amp;linkId=778c2a65dd99fce9b88fe2372ac09edd&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">D&#8217;Addario Two-Way Humidification System</a>.</p>

<a href="https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Guitar-Humidifier-System-Maintenance-Free/dp/B000OMG0KI?crid=241E667Y9KUGG&#038;keywords=D%27Addario%2BTwo-Way%2BHumidification%2BSystem&#038;qid=1650725656&#038;sprefix=d%27addario%2Btwo-way%2Bhumidification%2Bsystem%2Caps%2C353&#038;sr=8-5&#038;th=1&#038;linkCode=li3&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;linkId=94aab726f2fc8533a17c51f0aa0e953b&#038;language=en_US&#038;ref_=as_li_ss_il" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&#038;ASIN=B000OMG0KI&#038;Format=_SL250_&#038;ID=AsinImage&#038;MarketPlace=US&#038;ServiceVersion=20070822&#038;WS=1&#038;tag=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US" ></a><img decoding="async" src="https://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hobbyguitarist00-20&#038;language=en_US&#038;l=li3&#038;o=1&#038;a=B000OMG0KI" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

<p>Yes, you can take your guitar on a United Airlines flight if it&#8217;s in a hard case and fits in the overhead bin.

<p>It&#8217;s often said that it&#8217;s easy to learn a new skill if you already know how to play another instrument. But is this really true?</p>

<p>Can you really transfer the skills you&#8217;ve learned on one instrument over to another? And if so, how easy is it to do?</p>

<p>In this article, we&#8217;ll take a look at how easy it is to learn guitar if you already play the violin.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Learning Guitar Easy If You Already Play The Violin?</h2>

<p><strong>Learning Guitar after you already play the violin should make it a lot easier to learn. This is because Violins and guitars are both string instruments, this means that you’ve already developed strength in your hands and that you’re already used to putting your fingers on the strings the right way.</strong></p>

<p>But there are some key differences between the two instruments that make them different.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-452" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/From-violin-to-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Is The Guitar Similar To The Violin?</h2>

<p>Both are string instruments. This means that you are already familiar with making chords on the strings with your left hand.</p>

<p>Because of this, you&#8217;ve already developed more strength in your left hand. Making it easier to play guitar.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Are The Main Differences Between a Guitar And a Violin?</h2>

<p>The Violin is a bowstring instrument and the guitar is a plucked instrument. <strong>The violin is played with a bow and a guitar is played with a pick or your fingers</strong>.</p>

<p>This means that you need to learn two new techniques with your right hand. Instead of moving the bow across the strings, you&#8217;ll be either;</p>

<ol><li>Using your fingers to pick the strings or</li><li>Strum across them.</li></ol>

<p>This will take some practicing and getting used to.</p>

<p>A guitar has frets on the neck unlike a violin. Which makes playing guitar a bit easier because you don&#8217;t have to have perfect pressure and placement on the strings.</p>

<p>Another difference is that the guitar usually has six strings instead of four on the violin.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How is Playing Guitar Different From Playing Violin?</h2>

<p>Playing guitar is different from playing violin in a few key ways.</p>

<p>Firstly, pluck instruments are usually easier to play than bow string instruments. This is because plucking requires less precision and timing than bowing, which can be more difficult for beginners.</p>

<p>Secondly, the violin has no frets, which means that players need to be more precise with their finger placement. This can make the violin harder to play than the guitar, which has frets that guide the player&#8217;s fingers.</p>

<p>Finally, the way that the strings are tuned on a guitar is different from the way they are tuned on a violin. This can take some time for beginners to get used to because chords will be played differently on a guitar.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-453" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-guitar-1.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Learning How to Play The Guitar</h2>

<p>Now that we&#8217;ve looked at some of the similarities and differences between playing guitar and violin, let&#8217;s take a look at how easy it is to learn guitar if you already play the violin.</p>

<p>As we mentioned before, one of the main advantages of learning the guitar if you already play the violin is that you&#8217;ve developed strength in your left hand from playing the violin. This will make it easier to play guitar because you won&#8217;t have to start from scratch in developing the necessary hand strength.</p>

<p>You can start learning how to play right away! There are tons of video tutorials on YouTube showing you what positions your fingers should be in, teaching strumming patterns, and other stuff like that.</p>

<p>If you really want to learn the guitar fast, taking some private guitar lessons might be worth it.</p>

<p>But keep in mind that playing the guitar takes time;&nbsp;<strong>you probably need some getting used to at first but after a while, you’ll see progress if you stick with it.</strong>&nbsp;Just pick up any beginner tutorial book or watch some videos online and remember: practice makes perfect!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Different Music Genres On Guitar Compared To Violin</h2>

<p>One of the great things about playing guitar is that you can play a wide variety of music genres. You can play anything from rock to country to classical and beyond.</p>

<p>The same can be said for the violin, but the violin is generally associated with classical music. This is because the violin has been used in classical music for centuries.</p>

<p>So, when picking songs to learn on the violin you will have a higher chance of finding a lot of classical music than rock for instance.</p>

<p>Music Genres most commonly played on the Guitar:</p>

<ul><li>Rock</li><li>Pop</li><li>Blues</li><li>Country</li><li>Metal</li><li>Jazz</li></ul>

<p>Music Genres most commonly played on the Violin:</p>

<ul><li>Classical</li><li>Pop</li><li>Jazz</li><li>Folk</li><li>Fiddle</li></ul>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-455" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/violin-and-guitar-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tips For Buying Your First Guitar</h2>

<p>Now that we&#8217;ve gone over some of the basics of playing guitar, let&#8217;s take a look at some tips for buying your first guitar.</p>

<p>There are a few things you should keep in mind when purchasing a guitar. Firstly, you need to decide what type of guitar you want. There are acoustic guitars, electric guitars, and classical guitars. Each type of guitar has its own unique sound.</p>

<p>Usually, I would advise starting with a Spanish acoustic guitar, because of the nylon strings that are easier to press down. But because you already play the violin you&#8217;re already used to holding down the strings. So you could just pick any guitar you like.</p>

<p>Secondly, you need to consider your budget. Guitars can range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. It&#8217;s important to find a guitar that&#8217;s within your budget so that you don&#8217;t overspend.</p>

<p>I would look for a second-hand guitar or one that is a few hundred bucks. When you&#8217;re just starting out and you&#8217;re not sure if you actually like playing guitar, you don&#8217;t want to be spending $1500 on a guitar to only touch it a few times.</p>

<p>Thirdly, you need to decide what size guitar you want. Guitars come in different sizes, from small guitars that are meant for children to large guitars that are meant for adults. You should pick a size that&#8217;s comfortable for you to play.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Are Guitars Expensive?</h2>

<p>Compared to a violin guitars are a bit more affordable. The manufacturing process of a guitar is a bit simpler than a violin making it less expensive in general.</p>

<p>For a beginner, you could get away with paying around 200 to 300 dollars. If you want something of better quality it’s recommended to spend at least $500 but even then you don’t have to go crazy, anything less than that will do just fine for the beginning stages.</p>

<p>Electric guitars tend to be a bit more expensive than acoustic guitars. This is because electric guitars require additional equipment, such as an amplifier and cords.</p>

<p>Classical guitars are typically the least expensive type of guitar. This is because classical guitars are generally simpler in design and don&#8217;t require as much work to create.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>In conclusion, if you already play the violin you already have a bit of a head start on learning the guitar. The violin and guitar share a lot of similarities, so the learning curve isn&#8217;t as steep.</p>

<p>But on the other hand, there are some key differences between the two and it definitely will take some time to get used to and learn some new techniques.</p>

<p>That being said, it&#8217;s important to remember that playing any instrument takes practice and dedication. So be sure to put in the time and effort if you want to learn how to play the guitar. </p>

<p>Guitarists are always looking for ways to improve their tone and technique. One question that comes up from time to time is whether or not nails should be long or short.</p>

<p>In this article, we&#8217;ll take a look at the pros and cons of both options and help you decide what&#8217;s best for you.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Long Should My Nails Be For Guitar?</h2>

<p><strong>The perfect length of your nails for playing guitar is when you see a small white line of about 1 to 2 mm so that your nail is just a bit shorter than your fingertip.</strong></p>

<p>Cut your nails too short and you might find that your fingertip starts hurting when pressing down on the snares of the guitar. Because you don&#8217;t have your nail to take some of the pressure.</p>

<p>Nails that are too long can make it difficult to accurately press down on the strings. They can also get in the way when you&#8217;re trying to hold certain chords.</p>

<p>Long nails can also cause snares to slide under your fingernail when playing, this can hurt your finger and it doesn&#8217;t sound good when playing guitar.</p>

<p>So, the ideal length for your nails when playing guitar is somewhere in the middle. Not too long and not too short.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-446" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/close-up-hand-playing-guitar.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is It Easier To Play Guitar With Short Nails?</h2>

<p>Short nails have the advantage of being able to <strong>press down on the strings more accurately</strong>. This can be helpful when you&#8217;re first starting out and are still getting used to placing your fingers in the correct position.</p>

<p><strong>Short nails also make it easier to hold chords</strong>, as they don&#8217;t get in the way as much.</p>

<p>However, like I said before short nails can make your fingers hurt a little more. Because without the nail to take some of the pressure, all the pressure is on your fingertip.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is It Difficult To Play Guitar With Long Nails?</h2>

<p>Long nails can be difficult to play guitar with, but <strong>it&#8217;s not impossible</strong>.</p>

<p>If your nails are too long they can get in the way when you&#8217;re trying to hold chords and <strong>make it difficult to press down on the strings accurately</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Long nails can also cause snares to slide under your fingernail</strong> when playing, which can hurt your finger and doesn&#8217;t sound good.</p>

<p>Your nails might break or bend when they are too long. This can be painful and make it difficult to play guitar.</p>

<p>So, if you have long nails it&#8217;s probably best to either trim them down or file them so they&#8217;re not in the way as much.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do I Need To Cut My Nails For Playing Guitar?</h2>

<p>No, you don&#8217;t need to cut your nails for playing guitar. You can play with long or short nails.</p>

<p>However, <strong>I would recommend keeping your nails trimmed down</strong> so they&#8217;re not too long or too short. This will help you get the best sound out of your guitar and make it easier to play.</p>

<p>For your right hand, that you pick the snares with it doesn&#8217;t really matter if you have long or short nails. But for your left hand, that you hold the chords with having short nails will be easier.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can I Play Guitar With Acrylic Nails?</h2>

<p><strong>Playing guitar with acrylic nails will be even more difficult than playing with normal long nails.</strong> Because of the same reasons why it is hard to play guitar with long nails but times two.</p>

<p>Your acrylic nails can get in the way when you&#8217;re trying to hold chords causing other strings to make a buzzing sound because your acrylic nail is touching them.</p>

<p>And they make it difficult to press down on the strings accurately.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-447" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/acrylic-nails.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Did Dolly Parton Play Guitar With Nails?</h2>

<p>Dolly Parton is famous for playing guitar with long acrylic nails. She didn&#8217;t press down single notes with her fingers.</p>

<p>Instead, she turned her guitar to an open chord and <strong>only played open barre chords on it.</strong></p>

<p>Playing guitar this way allowed her to use her whole finger to press all the strings at once. Instead of pressing down single strings with the tip of her finger.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Do Some Guitarists Paint Their Nails?</h2>

<p>Some guitarists paint their nails because they think <strong>it looks cool.</strong></p>

<p>Others do it <strong>to protect their nails from breaking or bending.</strong> When your nails are painted they are less likely to break.</p>

<p>However, painting your nails can make it difficult to play guitar. If the paint is too thick it can make it difficult to press down on the strings accurately.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>So, there you have it. You don&#8217;t need to cut your nails to play guitar. But shorter nails are easier to play with.</p>

<p>Long nails can be difficult to play with but it&#8217;s not impossible. If you have long nails it&#8217;s probably best to either trim them down or file them so they&#8217;re not in the way as much.</p>

<p>Playing guitar with acrylic nails will be even more difficult than playing with normal long nails. So, if you have acrylic nails I would recommend taking them off before you play guitar.</p>

<p>Banjos are often seen as an integral part of country music, and while they can certainly be used in that genre, they can also be applied to a variety of other styles. </p>

<p>One question that often comes up for banjo players is whether or not the instrument is waterproof. In this blog post, we&#8217;ll take a look at some tips for keeping your banjo safe from the elements.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is It ok For Banjos To Get Wet?</h2>

<p>For the most part, <strong>a little bit of rain won&#8217;t do any harm to your banjo. </strong></p>

<p>However, you should never let your banjo get soaked. <strong>Water can damage the wood and cause the glue to loosen, ruining the instrument. </strong></p>

<p>If you do get caught in the rain, be sure to dry off your banjo as soon as possible. With a bit of care, you can keep your banjo in good condition for many years to come.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-360" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/playing-banjo-2.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What To Do If Your Banjo Got Wet?</h2>

<p>If your banjo gets wet, it&#8217;s important to take immediate action. <strong>First, wipe off the banjo with a clean, dry cloth. </strong></p>

<p>Then, set the banjo down in a well-ventilated area and <strong>let it dry at room temperature.</strong> Avoid placing the banjo near a radiator or other heat source, as this can cause the wood to warp. </p>

<p>Make sure the banjo is completely dry before you <a href="https://hobbyguitarist.com/how-to-store-a-banjo/" data-type="URL" data-id="https://hobbyguitarist.com/how-to-store-a-banjo/">put it back in the case for storage</a>. This will help to prevent mold and mildew from taking hold. With proper care, your banjo should be good as new.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Happens To The Banjo When It Gets Wet?</h2>

<p>Any musician knows that their instrument is a delicate thing, and the banjo is no different. </p>

<p><strong>The wood of the banjo expands when it stays moist for long periods of time,</strong> which can cause the wood to warp. This can damage the structure of the banjo and throw off its tuning. </p>

<p>In addition, wet conditions can also lead to rust on metal parts, which can not only damage the banjo but also affect its sound. As a result, it&#8217;s important to take care of your banjo and keep it dry to prevent costly repairs.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does a Banjo Sound Different When It&#8217;s Wet?</h2>

<p>While it&#8217;s true that the wood of the banjo expands when it gets wet, causing the tension in the strings to change and making it out of tune, there are also other factors at play. </p>

<p>The sound of the banjo is produced by the vibration of the strings, which is amplified by the resonant chamber of the banjo body. </p>

<p>When it rains, <strong>the drops of water falling on the banjo drum dampen the vibration of the drumhead</strong>, resulting in a duller sound. This makes the sound of the banjo softer and less sharp, giving it a mellower tone that some players find pleasing.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" src="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&resize=825%2C550&ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-361" srcset="https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo-300x200.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo-1024x683.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo-768x512.jpg?lossy=1&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=165&amp;ssl=1 165w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=495&amp;ssl=1 495w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=660&amp;ssl=1 660w, https://et2cj3pnk5d.exactdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/rain-drops-on-banjo.jpg?lossy=1&amp;w=825&amp;ssl=1 825w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do You Need To Humidify Banjos?</h2>

<p>You probably don&#8217;t need to humidify a banjo.</p>

<p>All banjos are different, and depending on the specific material used for the head, you may not need to worry about humidity at all. The most common material used for drum heads is plastic – they are easy to get, cheap and durable. </p>

<p>They do not change at all with humidity levels so you can rest assured that even if your room is very dry or very humid your plastic drum head will still be fine.</p>

<p><strong>If your drum head is made of real skin it needs some maintenance.</strong> You should make sure that it has enough moisture at all times. If there isn&#8217;t enough moisture in the air ambiently, you may have to consider buying a humidifier for your home (if there isn&#8217;t already one). </p>

<p>If you do this, make sure that it doesn&#8217;t cause too much condensation – if this happens then you could run into issues with rust on your hardware or rotting wood inside of the instrument.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can An Electric Banjo Get Wet?</h2>

<p>The electric banjo differs from a regular banjo in that it has a pickup that amplifies the sound of the strings. This pickup is connected to an amplifier, which makes the sound louder. </p>

<p>Because of this, <strong>it&#8217;s even worse for an electric banjo to get wet.</strong> If it does, the electric parts will probably break and the instrument will be ruined. </p>

<p>So if you&#8217;re playing your electric banjo in the rain, be sure to dry it down with a towel as quickly as possible.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Get Rust Off Your Banjo</h2>

<p>If you’re looking for a way to remove rust from your banjo, <strong>try making a paste of baking soda and water.</strong> After mixing them together, gently rub the paste over the rusty areas. </p>

<p>Next, let it sit for about an hour so it can work its magic. After that, use a soft cloth to scrub off any signs of rust until they are no longer visible.</p>

<p>If you have tried this remedy with no success, it may be time to take your banjo to the repair shop. The experienced staff members there will safely clean your instrument without damaging it.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p>Banjos are delicate instruments that need to be treated with care. If you get your banjo wet, <strong>in the long-term it can damage the wood and metal parts</strong>, as well as affect the sound of the instrument. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to keep your banjo dry to prevent any costly repairs. While a wet banjo does not sound as good as a dry one, some players find the mellower tone to be pleasing. </p>
